NORDIC CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENTS 2016
ARTO SATONEN 50 YEARS CELEBRATION
The Finnish Chess Federation invites players to the Nordic Chess Championships 2016. Tournaments are organized in co-operation with local chessclub Vammalan Shakkikerho (VammSK) and by Tammer-Shakki (TammerSh).
Playing period
The tournaments will be held from 22 October to 30 October (22.–30.10.2016).

- open to all players who are born 1951 or earlier and represent Nordic federations
- a separate women section can be played, if at least 8 women participate

Playing venue
Playing venue and accommodation is in Hotel Ellivuori (Vuorihotelli) at Sastamala, 50 km from Tampere. Tampere can be reached by plane from Stockholm and Copenhagen. From Helsinki the distance is 180 km. Organizers can provide players transportation with small cost from/to Tampere. Also upon agreement during the tournament week. Schedule
Championship group plays double rounds on Monday (24.10.) and Thursday (27.10.) in order to be able to play 11 rounds in 9 days. Those rounds start at 10 AM and 5 PM.
Wednesday 19.10. Drawing of lots at 3 PM
Friday 21.10. Arrival and opening ceremony at 8 PM
Saturday 22.10. Round 1 3 PM
Sunday 23.10. Round 2 3 PM

Time limit
90 min for first 40 moves followed by 30 min for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move one.
Prizes
Championship group: 1. 1800 € 2. 1300 € 3. 800 €
Women: 1. 1000 € 2. 600 € 3. 400 €
Seniors : 80 % of registration fees, separate prizes for women even if no separate group is arranged. Best three in each group will get a prize.
