Ex-World Champion GM Anatoly Karpov will give a lecture in Chess Arena on Fri 23.8. at 17-19 address Hiomotie 10, Helsinki, 2nd floor. Ex-World Champion GM Anatoly Karpov will play simultaneously against 15 young and talented Finnish chess players in library Oodi in 3rd floor (Sanoma-house side), address Töölönlahdenkatu 4, Helsinki. The simul will start at Sat 24.8. at 11.00 and it is open to the public to follow-up. The simul is part of the Helsinki Chess Festival, which is a part of FIDE<https://www.fide.com/> strategic goal to support chess in Nordic countries.

Anatoly Karpov
Born 23.5.1951 in Zlatoust in Soviet Union. 12th Chess World Champion in 1975-1985 and FIDE World Champion 1993-1999. He got the title from Robert Fischer in 1975 by default, defended his title twice in a cold war spirit matches against the defector GM Victor Korchnoi and was eventually defeated in 1985 by Garry Kasparov.
